🍽 Budapest Wine Festival

Budapest, Hungary · September 11–15

Buda Castle hosts Hungary's premier wine festival — 200 Hungarian wineries poured on the terraces of a medieval royal palace above the Danube. Tokaji Aszú, Egri Bikavér, Villányi Cabernet — Hungarian wine has been quietly world-class for centuries and remains criminally underdiscovered by most international visitors. The setting is extraordinary: the castle complex lit at night, the Danube visible beyond the ramparts, the Chain Bridge glittering below. Classical concerts and folk performances run alongside the wine programme.

The tasting glass and tokens system allows you to work through the producers systematically. Hungarian wine is exceptional and extraordinarily affordable by Western European standards. The evening sessions with the castle illuminated are the most atmospheric.
