Venice Carnival is one of the world's oldest and most visually stunning festivals — two weeks every February where the floating city fills with elaborate masks, baroque costumes and candlelit masked balls that have been held since the 13th century. Venice in winter is cool, uncrowded and hauntingly beautiful — the perfect time to see the city at its most magical.
